This week, in Awkward's season finale, we find out Jenna's decision, choosing between Matty and Jake. After trying to fictionalize her blog as to who she chooses, and the "do overs" she thought she'd do, she finally knew which one she should end up with.
Team Matty!!!
Now you must have thought that Jenna's pick would cause backlash on the one who she won't choose. Well, yes it did. After playing spin-the-bottle, Jenna spent "7 minutes in heaven" with Matty in the closet. Jenna and Matty spends the first part of their 7 minutes by faking it and making sounds to put on a good show to the people. Jake then opens the door, telling them they don't have to do that because he's fine with her choice anyway. It might hurt that it wasn't him, but because the bromance is sooo strong between him and Matty, he won't get in the way of them getting together. Hence, the latter part of the 7 minutes turned into a real smooch fest (squee!!!). And since our dear Jake is now back in the market, with the cred he got from dating Jenna, and the competition between him and Matty, he suddenly became the school's top commodity. Our boy Jake became THE player, caught flirting with almost all the girls in school.
However, this wasn't the only choice Jenna has to make. Now, we all know that Jenna's parents have been through a rough patch lately, causing our poor little J-bird (quoting Val) sadness. Val, then thought of convincing her parents that she (Val) will bring along Jenna to Europe, along with the sophomore participants so she can unwind and have fun after all the drama. The Hamiltons said yes, and Jenna again starts in another confusing decision: to stay and be with Matty at summer camp OR to go to Europe and have the most fab summer.
Jenna thought (at first) coming to Europe, after her parents surprised her and telling her that everything's been taken care of. Surprise for them too as they walk in on Jenna and Matty in bed. Haha! Anyway, Jenna was so confused because she's afraid that things with her and Matty might go sour if she goes to Europe, but afraid of missing out on a chance of a lifetime if she doesn't go. So torn! So she enlists her mom's help, asking for an advice. She tells her a pretty sensible one, which she related to her past love life between ex Ben and Jenna's dad. Back in the day, when Lacey was with Ben, she had all the opportunities to do whatever it is she wanna do, but she couldn't. She loved to dance. But Ben doesn't. She would then rather just sit on his lap to see friends dance around having fun. Something she so wanted to do. Lacey, in the end picked Kevin, who "danced" his way to her heart. So momma's advice: go to Europe, while she still has that opportunity.
So comes her going away party where everyone's invited--yes, even Sadie Saxton. Since Jenna was (pretty) convinced that she's going, she thought she'd then manipulate Matty to go as well so she'd have both--Europe with Matty. Unfortunately, Matty can't as he'll be camp counsellor for the summer. Jenna finds out that her summer might not be too fun in Europe anyway as it turns out that Jake took the last spot to Europe and that Matty and T won't be able to come since the last spot has already been taken. BOO!!! So J is now trying to convince herself to stay since her plan to manipulate Matty to come won't be any good anymore.
T's pretty upset about not going to Europe. Not only had her school year sucked, after the bad breakup with Ricky, her summer has already bummed her out due to the non-Europe trip. Ming and Jenna comforts her and talked about the summer that could have been, if it weren't for the taken last spot. Ming also confides about her break-up with Freddie after Becca (school's Asian mafia head) had his home re-districted so she can destroy their relationship. T was left crying on Ming's car where Jake comes in suddenly, trying to hide from Lisa. He comforts Tamara and the two ended up making out in Ming's car, and Jenna sees it. Jenna was pissed at first, but then realizes that it's not her call, since she chose Matty over Jake. And so all is well between her and Tamara once again. She also gives her spot to T so Jenna stays with Matty and Tamara goes to Europe with Jake. Problem solved.
In the party, we also find out that her secret blog commenter turns out to be Clark Stevenson. Jenna confided on Clark about her Tamara-Jake dilemma, to which he advised that since she chose Matty and have to deal with the fact that Jake is none of her business anymore. He then reveals to Jenna that it was him commenting on her blog all along saying that he's glad that they can talk out in the open, as opposed to her blog.
Oh and revenge is indeed sweet! Back then Clark was outed by Sadie to the entire school. What better way to get back at her? Clark hooks up with Sadie's boyfriend and ultimate whore (hooks up with boys and girls alike), Ricky Schwartz. Score one Clark! Anyhoos, Tamara and Jenna was about to get into a closet to talk privately, when they caught Ricky and Clark making out in the closet. T was so shocked but still thought of stopping Sadie from coming into the closet to protect her. However, being Sadie, she insulted and forced Jenna and Tamara to move aside and saw with her own eyes the betrayal that is Clark and Ricky inside the closet. After days of ignoring her, Sadie finally finds out the cold truth about what's going on with Ricky and decides to get drunk and "bonds" with J and T in the process. By the time she was about to say sorry, Sadie falls asleep. Too bad, Tamara's phone was already in video mode, thinking she'd record the apology to make a memory of it. Haha!
And so Jenna decides to stay and head to summer camp with Matty for summer, giving up her spot for Tamara. However, Jenna is suspicious and feels as if she might have chose wrongly when she remembers her mom's advice. Matty seems to be her mom's Ben as the season ends with Matty refusing Jenna's invitation to dance, making her think that she may have what she wants but not sure if that's what she needs. She's seen sitting on Matty's lap and watches on as everyone else in the party are having fun.
Awkward returns next year (2013) for their third season.
