Break-Up(s) - This week on Glee

The first relationship that bit the dust over the summer was Tina Cohen-Chang and Mike Chang's. This episode, a few more casualties of long-distance relationship is joining the list.

Finn and Rachel

Last week, Finn interrupts Rachel's date with Brody at their loft. After weeks without a work from Finn, Rachel decides to move on, thinking Finn may have already forgotten her. The two were kissing, when Finn knocks at the door to surprise Rachel... only to find himself much more surprised with Rachel's company at the loft.

Rachel asks Finn how come he's in New York and not in the army. He confesses that he only was in the army for 16 days but was released on "semi honorable discharge" after shooting himself through his thigh by accident. He went backpacking through Georgia and apologizes for not calling. That he wasn't dissing her, but because he was embarrassed to tell her what happened after she left Ohio.

Rachel encourages him to find a life in New York, maybe enrol in NYADA and finally be with her. She invites Finn to come with her at school and sit in class to see if he'd like to study there. He notice how far along Rachel has gotten since she left Ohio. He feels left out and doesn't have an ounce of feeling that he belongs with her in New York.

Kurt and Rachel brings Blaine and Finn at Callbacks, a local bar in NYADA. Finn and Rachel run into Brody at the bar (check out Finn's fiery eyes!!!) and he asks Finn if he can sing a song on stage. Finn refuses and tells Brody to rather sing it with Rachel since they're both NYADA students.

Rachel and Brody sings on stage and Finn notices the chemistry between the two. He also sees how she shines so brightly in New York, without him.

The group took a walk outside the streets of New York and talked about how great Rachel and Brody are singing together. He tells Rachel that life in the Big Apple isn't for him and that he doesn't fit there.

Finn feels that Rachel has been keeping something from him. He asks Rachel if she and Brody are just friends. Rachel admits that she and Brody kissed. To her defense, she thought Finn has already moved on that's why he never texts or call her back.

Finn leaves the next morning without even waking Rachel up. On his way out, Finn sees Kurt sitting, contemplating on what just happened. They said their goodbyes.

Rachel follows Finn in Ohio and she walks in on Finn at the auditorium, where they had their first date and where he proposed to her. She gets mad at Finn and blames him for everything. She said that all those four months that he never texted nor called, and that day he sent her to the train station on her way to New York, she hated him. He says he did that to give her her freedom.

Rachel doesn't want Finn giving her that freedom. That no matter how successful she will be, at the end of the day, she's still the same moon-eyed girl that freaked her in their first glee rehearsal. She confesses that he was the first boy that made her feel loved, sexy and visible. That he was her first love and more than anything, to be his last.

They break up... for now.

Flashback: Finn and Rachel kissing at the auditorium

Blaine and Kurt

Blaine wins Senior Class President at McKinley, while Kurt lands an internship with Vogue.com. Their relationship has been in a rut lately as Kurt is becoming more and more immersed with his life in New York, making Blaine feel alone and neglected by Kurt--the guy whom he left Dalton Academy for.

Blaine and Kurt are starting to miss phone dates. Blaine misses him badly and is becoming lonely, making him look for affection some place else. Since Blaine has been so alone lately, he begins a flirtationship with some guy on Facebook named Eli. C. They have been messaging each other and poking (no, not that poking--Facebook poking! I know what you're thinking. lol) to ease the sadness.

Blaine surprises Kurt in New York and they went to Callbacks. He sings a very emotional Teenage Dream to Kurt at the bar.

While Finn and Rachel talk as they walk ahead of them, they too had a heartfelt talk about their relationship. Kurt was wondering what just happened. Blaine confesses that he was with someone while he was left at Ohio. He admits to hooking up with someone because he's lonely. Kurt walks away in tears.

Blaine sends Kurt flowers as a peace offering and apology. Kurt, being crushed by what happened, throws the card in the trash.

Flashback: Kurt and Blaine running hand-in-hand to glee practice at Dalton

Brittany and Santana

After Britanny gets kicked out of the Cheerios, she also lost her Senior Class President status to Blaine. Now she's left with only the glee club and Santana. Lately, she feels that Santana is slowly drifting away from her too.

Santana comes to visit Brittany in Ohio. She tells her how college life is. She notice that Brittany seems off and is yawning the whole time they were talking. Santana was surprised how much Brittany has changed while she was out. Brittany had been reading books (gasp! shocker!) and has joined an after-school club making her read tons of books to discuss at school.

Santana comes with Brittany to the Left Behind Club at Breadstix. After Kitty's prank, Santana realizes that this group is not good for Brittany, and she asks her if they can just go home. Brittany won't go home and tells her that what happened to Dodi just then is exactly like what happened to her (well, minus the fake rapture part of course!). She opens up about her being left behind by Santana and how it has hurt her.

Santana talks to Brittany at the choir room. She recalls the first time she fell in love with her when she was in Sophomore and tells her how much she misses her. Santana then sings "Mine" to Brittany. Crying.

Later on she breaks up with Brittany.

Flashback: Brittany and Santana sitting side-by-side, smiling at each other at the choir room

Will and Emma

Will applies for a job in Washington, DC for Blue Ribbon Panel to Advance Arts Education. He was accepted and that means, he'll be leaving McKinley for a couple of months to work in DC. That means, he'll be leaving his fiancee, Emma, in McKinley High with the rest of the glee club.

Will comes home to Emma and shows her the letter of his acceptance. He invites Emma to come with him for a few months. At first she thought it was just for the whole weekend, but when Will asks her to do a sabbatical on her part so they can be together, Emma says no.

Emma loves her job and she doesn't expect Will to make her drop her whole life just for him to pursue his dreams. Sure, she supports of him, but that doesn't mean that she'll leave with him to Washington for it. She says she "doesn't wanna sit alone in a hotel room some where doing nothing, while you're off fulfilling your dreams..."

They had an argument about it and Emma storms off.

Flashback: Will kisses Emma at the school hall for the first time

Marley and Jake (and Kitty)

We all know Jake's getting all googly-eyed with Marley. Unfortunately, dude's already taken. He's dating Cheerio head-cheerleader Kitty. Yes, Quinn 2.0, if I may say so myself.

This week, them free lunch ticket kids gotta stick together. Jake and Marley notice that they are both from the same class in the society. Blaine and Brittany can see the chemistry between the two of them.

Anyhoos, Kitty invites Marley to be part of "The Left Behind Club"--where everyone's invited except for Muslims. They convene at Breadstix and Kitty starts preaching about the end of times. Turns out, they were just making a fake rapture and it was all a prank with their Japanese member, Dodi Kasatori as target. It happens to have broken her really bad. Jake stops Kitty from making any further damage on her.

Jake apologizes to Marley about the rapture thing, saying that it wasn't his idea but Kitty's. Marley tells him of how she is so disappointed in Jake for liking a horrible person like Kitty. He confesses that being with Kitty makes him feel wanted. That no one makes fun of him because he is with her. Turns out, he's having a hard time fitting in--being not black enough for the black kids, and not white enough for the white kids at school.

Kitty comes over and gets jealous of Marley and Jake. She attacks Marley by insulting her and Jake defends Marley. He breaks up with her in front of Marley, causing Kitty to throw a fit at school. Marley thanks Jake for defending her from Kitty. She invites him to join her to practice for "Grease" when he suddenly becomes off. Ugh! Too much mixed signals Jake!

***

Finn visits Mr. Schue and tells him about leaving the army. He cries to Mr. Schue about his problems. Later at the choir room, he sees Blaine and confronts him about what he did to his brother (well duh?! Kurt = Finn's little [step]bro). The glee club sees him and gives him warm welcome home hugs. Finn sits in to see how the new New Directions are doing.

Mr. Schue and the glee club discuss what their fall musical is going to be. Finn suggests "Grease" and they decide to do it.

Later on, they old New Directions (well the newly broken up couples) performed The Scientist at the auditorium with Mr. Schue and Ms. Pillsbury.
