Lost and Found

People still care. THANK GOD!!!

Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites have already become a "Lost and Found" site for people who lost their loved ones. Lately, I have been seeing people posting/sharing photos of people missing, like a senile husband/father, lost kids, missing pets. Seems like these social networking sites have a new purpose in life other than gossip, people's vanity and what not.

It's not that I don't like it. I just find it surprising that even electronically, people now are starting to care--yes, even in the comfort of their own home. Social media is a very powerful tool for people and now that it has found its new purpose, I think it's safe to say that there's still good in the worldwide web. We can actually tell people that it's not that bad--social media, I mean. It just depends on the people using it. Kinda like television back then, when parents think that TV is evil. Well, I don't think so anymore. Sick people who cannot go to churches due to their disabilities can now turn on the TV on an early Sunday morning to hear mass. Well, sans the Holy Communion, of course. Or when parents say TV is bad to kids cause you learn nothing--HELLOOOOO! Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, National Geographic, Travel and Living, and all those sorts of educational channels you see on TV. What, you don't learn anything from them?

All I'm saying is, social media has evolved now from this sites you use to befriend people, stalk your exes, trash your bosses, etc. to something that means a lot to people. It now helps us sell stuff (not just Amazon and eBay people. Yes, you can sell your things through FB too), find missing people--everything. It just needs the right person to use it so people can actually say that it's not evil.
